How to eat healthy and save money

A lot of people nowadays are under a great deal of stress from jobs, family, motor way traffic , as well as the daily commute to and from work. Making poor nutritional choices can add to all of the other stresses, which have become a normal part of our daily lives. You can learn to make better choices by eating a healthy diet.

Whether or not you think you’re hungry, you should always eat breakfast in the morning. I’m certain your mother always told you: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Well ……Your mother was right! When you skip breakfast, you are beginning your day with a stomach, which has been empty for at least 8 to 10 hours, causing your blood-sugar level to be lower than it should be for maximum energy and efficiency. When your blood sugar is low, you can experience weakness, and sometimes even the shakes.

Naturally, this will help raise your stress level even higher than it usually is. Therefore eat your breakfast everyday to prevent this problem.Sometimes , it could be a challenge to stop and eat a healthy meal when we should ,therefore it would be a great idea to carry a few snacks, rich in protein, with you. A GOOD snack solution for you would be a bag of unsalted almonds. This way you can get the protein, and energy you need, and you can do it without the sodium and sugars. .

Many people have a tendency to “munch” when they get all stressed out. Instead of going for the potato chips, or Junior Mints, try reaching for carrot or celery sticks, a bunch of grapes or cherries, or a handful of unsalted almonds , nuts and seeds. These things will take care of your stress munchies, and still be good healthy snack.

When we are working and dealing with our hectic personal lives, the temptation is to run in and grab a quick lunch from the local fast food place. Don’t do it. There is a much better solution. If you pack and bring your own lunch, you will not only save a great deal of money, you’re much less likely to have the “after lunch sleepies“,when you return to work. It only takes a few minutes to make a sandwich or salad, and some fruit or cheese, to take in your lunch. If you don’t have time in the morning, you can pack your lunch at night, before you go to bed.

In order for you to pack your lunch, and have healthy snacks in the car and at home, you first have to buy them. Before you go shopping for the week, sit down and make a list of all the different healthy foods you want to buy. Make sure you include fresh fruits, vegetables and cheese, as well as things like trail mix and granola bars, and don’t forget the unsalted almonds, or nuts of your choice.
Keeping a well stocked pantry at home is the best and easiest way to be assured you will be eating a healthy diet from now on. Don't bring the unhealthy things into the house. This way you won’t be tempted to fall back into your old habits.
